Michigan fairs well on National Signing Day

National Signing Day 2009 is in the books and the Michigan Wolverines recruiting class ranked in seventh in the country coming in only behind Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, USC, Texas and Florida State and ahead of North Carolina, Georgia and Florida to round out the top ten. Conference wise, the Wolverines came in second, behind Ohio State and ahead of Michigan State, Penn State and Illinois to round out the top five. Let’s take a look at the brightest and best of the Wolverines 2009 class.
 
William Campbell, defensive tackle from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, MI tops the list. Campbell, the only five star Michigan recruit, stands at 6’5 and weighs in at 317 lbs.
 
Second on the list is Vladimir Emilien, safety from Lauderhill Plantation High School in Lauderhill, FL. The four star recruit stands at 6’0 and weighs in at 186 lbs.
 
Quarterback Tate Forcier, who played at Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, CA, is third on the list. Forrcier, a four start recruit, stands at 6’0 and weighs in at 184 lbs.
 
Jeremy Gallon, a pure athlete from Apopka High School in Apopka, FL, comes in fourth on the list. The four start recruit stands at 5’8 and weights in at 165 lbs.
 
Fifth on the list is Cameron Gordon, wide receiver from Inkster High School in Inkster, MI. Gordon, a four star recruit, stands at 6’ 2 and weighs in at 211 lbs.
 
The rest of the four star recruits: Anthony LaLota (DE) from Princeton , NJ, Taylor Lewna (OL) from Scottsdale, AZ, Denard Robinson (ATH) from Deerfield Beach, FL, Craig Roh (DE) from Scottsdale, AZ, Michael Schofield (OL) from Orland Park, IL, Je’Ron Stokes (WR) from Philadelphia, PA, Fitzgerald Toussaint (RB) from Youngstown, OH, Justin Turner (DB) from Massillon, OH, and Quinton Washington (OL) from St. Stephen, SC.
 
Rounding out the recruiting list are: Thomas Gordon (ATH) from Detroit, MI, Brandin Hawthorne (LB) from Pahokee, FL, Mike Jones (DB) from Orlando, FL Teric Jones (RB) from Detroit, MI, Vincent Smith (RB) from Pahokee, FL and Brendan Gibbons (K) from West Palm Beach, FL.
 
The class of 2009 looks pretty impressive and Michigan fans are hoping the success the Wolverines had on signing day will translate to success on the football field in fall of this year. Less than seven months until opening weekend!
